It's February 28. I guess if I want to make a February blog entry I'd better get going.
I didn't learn anything earthshaking about language this month but I did learn a little about people.
At the Denver location of AARP's Senior Planet (Google it), in addition to attending some of ther OATS technology classes I'd been to a couple of their poetry slams. One of my fellow attendees wanted to publish some of our poems as an anthology. In the long run she had to sideline this ambitions project, for the moment anyway, when other aspects of life interfered. In the meantime, though I had drafted friends and relatives to help me narrow down my poems to the 10 best, the max each person could include. I discovered that one person's most favorite could be someone else's least.. There was very little consensus!
So at the recent February poetry slam I presented three very different pieces. Hopefully each individual in the room liked at least one of the styles.
